A common tropical and sub-tropical hydromedusan genus. Some species can grow to be 15cms in diameter, with tentacles up to a metre in length. Aequoria predates upon salps and pteropods, such as Cavolinia and Gesis. Upon disturbance they will flash brilliant bioluminescence along circular and radiating canals and gonads.
